Britain’s fastest round the sailor Brian Thompson and ocean racing rookie Mike Gascoyne finish the Transat Jacques Vabre in 14th place in Class 40  

British duo Mike Gascoyne and Brian Thompson completed their Transat Jacques Vabre double handed race from Le Havre to Itajaí, Brasil in 14th place in Class 40 at 1550hrs today local time 1750hrs UTC after racing for 23 days 16 hours 36 minutes and 10 seconds. Their course sailed is 5711 miles and they completed it an average of 10.04kts.
 

Crossing the finish line off Itajaí, Brazil at 1550hrs and 45s Britain’s Mike Gascoyne and Brian Thompson on Caterham Challenge finish in 14^th place in Class 40 of the Transat Jacques Vabre two handed race across the Atlantic from Le Havre to Itajaí, Brasil. The duo finish in an elapsed time of 23 days 16 hours 36 minutes and 10 seconds, 2 days 18 hours 54 minutes and 45 seconds after Class 40 winners GDF SUEZ.

They sailed the 5450 miles theoretical course at an average of 9.50kts but actually sailed 5711 miles at an average of 10.04kts. 

A sticky, light winds finish was not really what was wanted by the Class 40 duos which finished over the course of Monday morning in Itajaí, Brasil.

One of the tightly knit groups which have both endured and enjoyed their close rivalries down the second half of the 5450 miles Transat Jacques Vabre race course from Le Havre had only very light overnight winds which dragged out the final miles for six or eight hours of additional suffering.

Stefano Raspadori and Pietro d’ Ali crossed the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre line 11 58hrs and 15 second, 1358hrs and 15 seconds UTC, taking 13^th place some  2d 14h 02′ 15” after the winner GDF SUEZ. 
Fantastica’s elapsed time is 23d 11h 43 ’40 ”. Their average speed on the theoretical course 5,450 miles from Le Havre was 9.58 knots. They sailed 5,800 miles on the water at an average speed of 10.29 knots.

Gaetano Mura (ITA) and Sam Manuard Bet1128 crossed the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre line at 0944h 23secs local time in Itajaí in Brazil (1144hrs 23secs UTC) to take 12th place some 2d 12h 48′ 23” after the winner GDF SUEZ. Their elapsed time is 23d 10h 29 ‘ 48” . Their average speed on the theoretical course 5,450 miles from Le Havre was 9.60 knots. They sailed 5,639 miles on the water at an average speed of 10.03 knots.
